To honour Rare Disease Day 2023, HAE Canada President, and Ontario Regional Director, Michelle Cooper, spent the morning at a breakfast reception at Queen’s Park in Toronto. Thank you Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders (CORD) for organizing and hosting this wonderful breakfast reception. There were many attendees and a wide variety of speakers including Durhane Wong-Rieger (CEO, CORD), multiple Ontario Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs), Rute Fernandes (GM Takeda Canada) and patient advocate Stephen Parrott, and Dr. James Dowling from Sick Kids. The speakers discussed how the Ontario government and health sector stakeholders can collaborate to develop a rare disease strategy that allows patients to equitably access new therapies.
Please visit CORD’s Facebook page if you’d like to see further photos from the morning’s successful event.
Thank you to all who participated to highlight the major message: Canadians deserve and need a Rare Disease Strategy. Michelle left knowing all attendees are indeed supportive of a Rare Disease Strategy.
